I've been there nine times before for a night out, but I'm far from bored with the club. If anything it gets better the more I go back, revisiting parts that are forever changing, and discovering new things. And it's always interesting to see it through new eyes. And Gaz's eyes are very dark. He's not a typical visitor.
So how will this night at The Wild Side go?
Well I know what will happen in the club. At least in outline plan. There are five chapters at a minimum to be set there, and each one has been sketched out in draft. But the pleasure of being in The Wild Side is all about the detail. What has Barry got lined up in The Fantasy Zone? What show will take place on the main stage? Is there some raunchy piece of play going on? Will Gaz meet some interesting people - past characters making a cameo appearance, or Wild Side staples there for a purpose. Will he take a liking to anyone in particular. What will capture Gaz's interest the most?
Well the answers are simple - whatever I decide. It's my club after all, and it's my book I'm writing. Gaz will see what I want him to see, which is probably what I want to see myself. He'll be shocked at times, but I suspect he'll like most of it. Whether he admits this is another matter. Because Gaz hasn't come to see The Wild Side as such. He's come with a grudge, and to have it out with owner - a certain Angus MacLeod.
Summer is over, and I'm back at work. But October should be a fun month, because I'm going to be spending a lot of time in The Wild Side.
Who's a lucky boy then?
